๐Ÿ“ˆ Connect MetaTrader MT4/MT5

Connect your MetaTrader MT4/MT5 platform to start receiving and processing trading signals from TradingView alerts.

Overview

Connecting your MetaTrader account is the first and most important step to enable automated trade execution.

Once your MetaTrader terminal is successfully connected, all trading signals you send from TradingView to Trade Sender will be received and executed directly in the trading account linked to your terminal.

Trade Sender works exactly the same in both MT4 and MT5. However, if your broker supports MT5, we recommend using the MT5 version as it provides better performance and stability.

How to Connect MT4/MT5 Account

The way to connect MT4 and MT5 account with Trade Sender is exactly the same. Follow the steps below to link your trading account to Trade Sender.

  1. In your MetaTrader terminal, log in to your trading account.

  2. Open the Dashboard, click Downloads in the left sidebar.

  3. Download the latest version of the Trade Sender Connector.
You will receive a .zip file, extract it to have two files:

    • Trade Sender Connector MT5.ex5
    • TradeSenderMT5.dll

If you use MT4, file name is a little difference.

  4. Copy both 2 files above into Expert folder of your MetaTrader terminal

  5. Go to your MetaTrader terminal Navigator, right click on Expert Advisors, click Refresh to show new experts

  6. Double-click on Trade Sender Connector MT5 to install it
    Configuration requirements:

    • In the Inputs tab, set License Key to the License you created.
    • In the Inputs tab, set License Secret to the Secret from the same license.

How to Remove an Active Connection

You can remove an active MT4/MT5 connection in two ways:

Option 1: Remove the Connector from MetaTrader

Remove the Trade Sender Connector Expert directly from your MetaTrader terminal.

Option 2: Use the Trade Sender Dashboard

  1. Open the Dashboard and go to Connect Hub in the left sidebar.
  2. Click Manage License for the license associated with the connection.
  3. Click the Remove Connection button next to the connection you want to remove.
  4. Confirm the action to complete the removal.

Important Notes

  • Removing a connection through the Dashboard will also remove the Trade Sender Connector from your MetaTrader terminal.
  • If you remove the connector directly in MetaTrader, you will receive a Disconnect notification (if enabled).
Removing the connection via the Dashboard does not trigger a disconnect notification.

Additional info

  1. The Trade Sender Connector is a crucial component for handling trading signals in your MetaTrader terminal. It must remain running to ensure your trading signals are properly processed. Therefore, using a VPS for your MetaTrader terminal (with the Trade Sender Connector installed) is highly recommended.

  2. The Trade Sender Connector will automatically attempt to reconnect whenever a disconnection occurs (usually due to network issues on your terminalโ€™s side). If you have notifications enabled and you see a โ€œDisconnectโ€ followed by a โ€œConnectโ€ message, it means your connection was briefly lost and then restoredโ€”no need to worry. However, if this happens frequently, please check your network connection or consider switching to a more stable VPS.
